Elena Recco (active between the 17th and 18th centuries) Still life of fish with cat Oil on canvas 64.5 x 119 cm The work is accompanied by a written attribution by Gustavo Mazzola as a painting by Baldassare De Caro. The daughter of Giuseppe Recco, Elena followed her father's pictorial examples, preferring still lifes having fish as their subject. She worked in Naples until 1695, and after that date she was in Madrid, where reports of her works remain in the inventories of the Buen Retiro. His works are in the Puskin Museum in Moscow, the Warsaw Museum, and the City Art Gallery in Leeds.
