Asia recens summa cura delineata (1631) In 1630, Henricus Hondius issued a revised edition of the Mercator's Atlas in order to include the latest discoveries and to compete against the publications of the Blaeu family. Compared to Mercator's previous map of Asia there are many improvements - particularly regarding the shape of China, Japan and Korea. The left cartouche contains a dedication to Eilhard lubinus - an important German cartographer and scholar. The map also contains rich illustrations of ships, sea monsters animals and the Great Wall of China. Ref. Krogt IIIb [0001:31C]. - van de Broecke Ort 3. - Karrow 1/6b.
