Silver 13 lot (750), a) fish-shaped pin box, chased and engraved silver 13 lot, sculptural fish form with movable segments and detachable head, faceted garnet stones as eyes, inner lid with thread spools, town mark (unicorn) and master's mark "VV" on the tail, l 13.6 cm, weight 24.6 g, master V.V. Schwäbisch Gmünd 2nd half 18th century, in the original leather case, b) pin box as petschaft, cast silver, gouilloched and engraved, conical shaft with ogee relief, multi-jointed screw-on lid with thread spools, vase-shaped symbol in the stand, h 7.3 cm, weight 21.6 gr, Southern Germany late 18th century and c) Thimble, chased silver, corded and engraved, slender beehive form with pierced filigree fields, original screw-on lid, h 2.8 cm, weight 10.4 gr, Southern Germany late 18th century, Total weight a) and b) each missing the thimbles, otherwise good condition with signs of use 0645 Ref.: Marc Rosenberg 1923, Der Goldschmiede Merkzeichen, II. vol., p. 112, no. 2179 and 2201 (with the indication "Weißsilberne Nadelbüchse in Fischform" with the same marks), presumably the utensils under a) and b) belong to the equipment of a Jewish Torah scribe, almost identical examples to a) and b) in the Jewish Museum Berlin, a needle box almost identical to a) in a case in the Basel Historical Museum, inv.No. 1896.22, cf.: https://www.hmb.ch/museen/sammlungsobjekte/einzelansicht/s/nadelbuechse/ Lit.: Vera Bent 1989 (ed.), Catalog of the Jewish Museum Berlin, pp. 227/228, no. 136 and 322/323, no. 233
