Blown, cut and polished colorless glass, slender, bell-shaped bowl on an articulated baluster stem, air bubble pierced in the baluster, wide disc foot with turned rim and raised center with tear-off scar, bowl base and stem densely faceted, frontal transverse oval medallion on the bowl framed by scrollwork and tendrils with a couple with a baby in a landscape, above the inscription "Wenn mans Um undt um betracht - so hatt es ein prasser soldat gemacht", the base with a surrounding frieze of large and small olives, h 19.3 cm, Glücksburg/Saxony ~1730, good condition, undamaged 0614 Typical glass from the Glücksburg glassworks with the typical and popular scroll and vine work, the sometimes coarse and frivolous scenes and sayings are, however, quite rare Lit.Brigitte Klesse 1973, Glass Collection Helfried Krug, Vol. II. page 164ff, no. 642ff, Gisela Haase 1988, Sächsisches Glas, page 359 and 360, no. 260ff Prov.: Collection Gottfried Wilhelm Butze (1821 - 1897, Regierungsrat in Berlin), Johann Franz Wilhelm Butze (1857 - 1912, Regierungsrat in Berlin and Arolsen), property of the heirs
