Montlaurès is an oppidum located a few kilometers northwest of Narbonne, which was occupied from the 6th century BC until the Middle Ages. The oppidum was a stronghold and trading post, and a Roman colony was established there in 118 BC. Its coins show that the inhabitants belonged to the Iberian-Languedocian culture.
