NÉDÈNES (Neronken) Oppidum de Montlaurès 121-45 Veiled head of Diana on right. Celtiberian legend in front. R/. Bull charging right. Above, crown and below, Celtiberian legend. ♦ BN 2449 Bronze with bull (12.50 g) Olive-green patina. Rare in this condition. Very handsome. Montlaurès is an oppidum located a few kilometers northwest of Narbonne, which was occupied from the 6th century BC until the Middle Ages. The oppidum was a stronghold and trading post, and a Roman colony was established there in 118 BC. Its coins show that the inhabitants belonged to the Iberian-Languedocian culture.
