Grenetis and linear circle obverse and reverse. ♦ Fr 419 Gold Doppia in the name of Conrad II 1573 Genoa (6.66 g). Very fine. In 1139, Conrad III of Hohenstaufen had granted the city the right to mint coins. In 1339, with Simone Boccanegra, first doge of the Republic of Genoa, appears the dogal indication with the dedication: X DVX IANVENSIVM PRIMVS. Genoa's biennial Doges and governors regained their autonomy in 1528, but coins were still minted in the name of Conrad II the Salic (1024-1039).
