Joanna of Castile, known as Joanna the Mad was born on November 6, 1479 in Toledo and died on April 12, 1555 in Tordesillas, was a Spanish princess of the Trastamare dynasty, daughter of Ferdinand II of Aragon (1452-1516) and Isabella of Castile (1451-1504), the "Catholic Kings". Charles V, also known as Charles V, was born in Ghent on February 25, 1500, to Archduke Philip the Handsome and Joanna the Mad. On his father's side, he was the grandson of Maximilian I of Habsburg, and on his mother's, grandson of the Catholic kings Ferdinand and Isabella.
