LOUIS VUITTON X FRANK GEHRY BAG FROM THE ICONOCLASTS COLLECTION Architect Frank Gehry has designed some of the world's most important buildings, including the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. The 2014 "Icon and the Iconoclasts" collection celebrated Louis Vuitton's monogram and showcased the work of six major creatives - Christian Louboutin, Cindy Sherman, Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Newson, Rei Kawakubo and Frank Gehry. Each artist was given "carte blanche" to create a personally inspired bag and/or piece of luggage using the iconic Monogram canvas. The bag is 21 cm wide, 11 cm high and 11 cm deep, with a shoulder strap drop of 56 cm. It includes a shoulder strap, mirror, 'F.G' monogrammed dust bag, luggage tag and brochures. The bag is in mint condition. Hardly any signs of wear visible. Information and background on the history of the bag: In 1854, Louis Vuitton founded his fashion house and in 1896, his son Georges Vuitton created the monogram in honor of his late father, which quickly became a universal symbol of modernity and a pioneer of upscale branding. Placed in the hands of Louis' grandson Gaston-Louis, he described the precise and meticulous design of the interlocking LV initials, diamond shapes and floral motifs that characterize the monogram. This iconic signature has become a symbol of the brand, combining innovation and craftsmanship and blurring the boundaries between art, fashion and design. The year 2014 marks a tribute to the monogram through the "Celebrating Monogram" project, in which six visionary creatives such as Christian Louboutin and Frank Gehry were given free rein to reinterpret the characteristic canvas according to their own taste. They continued the tradition of the 1996 centenary celebrations and presented a bold, individual collection. Frank Gehry, for example, designed the "Twisted Box", a technically sophisticated blend of the taut lines of classic Vuitton chests and the organic curves that make it a pleasure to carry. The interior of the box reveals itself in blue lambskin leather with a hand-drawn monogram embossing, which emphasizes the connection between craftsmanship, individuality and the innovative spirit of Louis Vuitton.
