Boulle style writing desk. France, 19th century. Ebonised wood. Marquetry in simile of tortoiseshell and metal. The metal fillets are loose at some points. Needs to be reworked. Measurements: 75 x 45 x 95 cm (height). French writing desk, Napoleon III period. It follows Boulle models, which can be appreciated in the decorative profusion based on inlaid in simile of tortoiseshell and metal to compose medallions and soffits of fine tracery. The inclusion of metal ornaments that stand out against the ebonised wood is also characteristic of the Boullé style. The central part, which houses drawers and compartments, has a hinged lid and an extendable desk. Stylised cabriole legs are adorned with vegetal pods on feet and knees.
