A GEORGE I SILVER LIDDED TANKARD by Francis Nelme, London 1723, of gentle tapering cylindrical form with an applied reeded girdle and circular foot, the domed hinged cover with an urn-shaped finial and an Onslow scroll thumbpiece, with a double-scroll handle, engraved with a monogram. 20cm high, 26.5 troy ounces The marks struck to the handle's right are clear. The cover has a full set of marks to the flange. There is some age-related surface wear, but it is generally in very good condition.
