TIBET - 20th century Round box in partially polychrome wood and silver-plated metal, the lid depicting a standing Mahakala, looking wrathful, holding the cleaver and the cranial cup (kapala) surrounded by a frieze of merchant animals, flowers and foliage, the sides decorated with ashtamangala (the eight Buddhist objects), friezes of palmettes and swastika.
