Portable Bloud-type diptych dial in ivory of proboscidean elephantidae SPP. (Elephas maximus, Loxodonta africana or Loxodonta cyclotis), with rectangular axle wire, consisting of two tablets (3 graduated faces) connected by two metal hinges. The 4 faces are engraved in black and feature the ornamentation typical of Dieppe dials: a denticulated frieze along the edge of the various dials. The top face of the lid features a circular dial graduated "1-12-1-12". A small central hole is used to attach the needle gnomon (missing). The upper inner side features a metal lunar volvelle graduated from 1 to 30, surrounded by a dial graduated "1-12-1-12" with a scale graduated "0-80" on the right-hand side. On the plate, a horizontal dial with a broken wire axis surrounds a compass. The dial's hour scale "5-12-7" is engraved in black. At the bottom of the compass is a paper compass rose (reported). Two hooks hold the dial open and closed. An old crack on the top shelf. Dieppe, last quarter of 17th c., 1st quarter of 18th c.
