The watercolor is registered in the artist's estate. We would like to thank the estate of Erich Heckel, Hemmenhofen, for their scientific support and for the information that the watercolor probably dates from Heckel's first exploratory trip to the Flensburg Fjord, where he later acquired a farmhouse in Osterholz.
