French - Biedermeier frame with egg bar
Wood, ebonized and with remnants of old gilding, with a carved cymation strip (egg bar). With coving and smooth visible molding. (Around 1850). Clear dimensions: 40.6 x 30.1 cm. Strip width: 7 cm. Outer dimensions: 58.4 x 47.8 cm.
Probably missing inner strip. Frame rubbed and partially bumped, the gilding largely chipped. Small holes from a former worm infestation. Remnants of adhesive on verso and on one outer side.
Surface rubbed and partly with scratches. The edges bumped in places.
