German - Cassette frame with trelliswork Wood, carved and stained dark brown, with ascending profile. (Around 1700). The inner strip with twisted scrollwork, the outer strip with foliate tendrils. Clear dimensions: 27.4 x 41.4 cm. Strip width: 5.4 cm. Outer dimensions: 38.3 x 52.2 cm. Profile bumped in places, the corners partly rounded. Some old wormholes. Verso with chipping in the wood. Probably missing inner strip. Frame rubbed and partially bumped, the gilding largely chipped. Small holes from a former worm infestation. Remnants of glue verso and on one outer side.
