decorated with the Christological emblem; wear and a few minor faults to the glaze, possible restoration to the mouth of one H. cm 24.5 and cm 24.2 Collection markings A PAIR OF MONTELUPO MAIOLICA ALBARELLOS, 16TH CENTURY; WORN, FEW MINOR GLAZE LOSSES, AN UPPER RIM MAYBE RESTORED (2) Provenance: Mariano Romano collection, Palermo. Decorated by two festoons held by rosettes and a ribbon, enclosing the trigram IHS in Gothic letters accompanied by a cross and a circle and surrounded by Persian palmette reserves, this pair of albarellos was perhaps part of a pharmaceutical kit, as has been suggested, for the Gesuati order: see ultimately M.
