Albrecht Dürer (1471 - Nuremberg - 1528) - The Adoration of the Magi Woodcut on fine laid paper with watermark "Wappen mit schräggem Balken und JB" (see Meder watermark 245). (c. 1503). 29 x 22 cm (sheet size 39 x 28.7 cm). Bartsch 3; Meder 208 i (of i); Schoch/Mende/Scherbaum 225 i (of i). Good, strong impression of the last state, with the sought-after gaps in the framing line, somewhat weaker impression lower left. The woodcut was published in the same year as the book edition of the Life of Mary. Wide margins. - Darkened in the mat opening. The paper browned and stained. Uneven at the edges. Horizontal creases from printing, otherwise still in good condition.
