Albrecht Dürer (1471 - Nuremberg - 1528) - The sweat cloth, held by two angels Copperplate engraving on laid paper. (1513). 10.1 x 13.9 cm (sheet size). Bartsch 25; Meder 26 a (from d); Schoch/Mende/Scherbaum 68 a (from d). Excellent, sharp and deep black early impression, before the vertical scratch in the left drapery. On finest early paper which, as always with the earliest impressions of this sheet, shows no watermark. Trimmed close to the platemark. - Tiny brown stains predominantly in the lower margin and verso. Remains of former mounting on verso, otherwise in fine condition. Provenance: Charles Delanglade (1870-1952), Marseille, with the stamp (Lugt 660) on the verso; Centaur Art Galleries, Las Vegas, Nevada USA.Taxation: Differential tax plus 7% (VAT: Margin Scheme (non EU))ne ony lots.
