Winzinger considers this engraving to be one of the artist's most outstanding works, "this work, in which man and nature merge into an indissoluble unity, to be one of Altdorfer's greatest masterpieces". - The upper margin set, there with pen retouching. Smoothed creases verso, with minor traces of use, otherwise a fine copy. Rare! Provenance: Ines Beckendorf-Kaps, (last third of 20th century to 21st century), Leipzig, with stamp on verso (Lugt 3575, mentioned there); Unidentified collector's stamp "N.B", verso with stamp (Lugt 5177).Taxation: taxed by difference plus 7% (VAT: Margin Scheme (non EU))ne ony lots.
