Description

WAR 14/18 - Belgium - ROCHEGROSSE Georges, history painter, student of Boulanger (1859-1919): LAS dated March 11, 1915, addressed to a lady, about Albert I, King of the Belgians, in the midst of the 14/18 war: "Eloquence is not my forte, and it would take a great deal of it to speak well of the Belgian people and their King. At least I have tried to express in a few words the admiration I feel for this people and this leader....by making himself the champion of Right against Force, of Liberty against Opression, King Albert I has given one of those examples of human dignity which in the history of a people are equivalent to the most dazzling victories".
