PIBRAC (Guy du Faur, seigneur de).

Les Vers françois. Paris, Mamert Patisson, 1584. In-4, fawn morocco, foliate border framed by cold-stamped fillets, gilt coat of arms in center, ornate spine, interior lace, gilt edges (Cuzin). Last edition published during the author's lifetime of his Plaisirs de la vie rustique (1573), presented here under a new title and enlarged. In this bucolic poem imitating Virgil, the Seigneur de Pibrac (1529-1584) praises rural life and sings of the daily lives of the inhabitants of the Languedoc countryside, his homeland. Elegant impression by Mamert Patisson. A sonnet addressed to Ronsard on the verso of the title. A fine copy, bearing the arms of the Marquis de Villeneuve-Trans (1926, no. 218): it also came from the library of General Jacques Willems (cf. cat. Berès, Des Valois à Henri IV, no. 276).
