Recueil des rymes et proses. Paris, Pour Vincent Sertenas, 1555. In-8, black morocco, triple gilt fillet, gilt numeral in upper corner of first cover, ornate spine, interior lace, gilt edges (David). First edition. Very difficult to find, according to J. P. Barbier-Mueller. Collection of sonnets and epistles, in verse and prose, followed by two colloquia or dialogues on the theme of love: the first between the lover and his lady, entitled Jouyssance, and the second on L'Œil et le Devis. At the end, a very long poem dedicated to Ronsard, Contre l'Amour. A copy from the libraries of Henri Monod (I, 1920, no. 267), with his gilded figure on the front cover, and Lindeboom (1925, no. 102). It belonged to General Jacques Willems and appeared in the Pierre Berès bookshop catalog Des Valois à Henri IV under n°260. Rubbing to spines and headpieces. J. P.
