Imagination poétique, Traduicte en vers François, des Latins, & Grecz, par l'auteur mesme d'iceux. Horace en l'art. Lyon, Macé Bonhomme, 1552. In-8, red morocco, boards covered with a fanfare decoration ornamented with small irons, ornamented spine, interior lace, gilt edges (David). First French edition of this book of emblems, published the same month (September 1552) as the Latin edition also given by Macé Bonhomme under the title Picta Poesis. Beautifully illustrated, with 103 woodcut vignettes in the text, taken from the Latin edition, formerly attributed to Bernard Salomon, but now considered for the most part to be among the finest works by Pierre Vase, also known as Pierre Eskrich.
