Under his leadership, the company played a key role in supporting the Free Denmark Movement during the war. He also served as Danish Ambassador to the Court. An art lover, his collections included important works by Sisley, Corot, Pissarro and Epstein. Between 1928 and 1930, he built Stockgrove Park House in Bedfordshire, a property considered to be the last major castle in England. built in England.
