Luigi Loir Marché aux fleurs sous la neige Gouache. 64 x 54 cm. Framed. Provenance Private collection Santiago de Chile. Born in Göritz, Austria, to French parents, Luigi Loir began his training at the Parma Academy of Fine Arts in 1853. After studying in Italy, he moved to Paris, where he specialized in views and scenes of the French capital. Soon after the city council of Paris bought two of his paintings, he was officially appointed painter of the Parisian boulevards. Loir was particularly successful in selling his works executed in gouache. They are characterized by an excellent technique, are spontaneously and with the greatest certainty put on paper and depict wonderful impressions of the Parisian Belle Epoque.
