Christoph Daniel Schenck, Perimeter Lamentation of Christ Carved fruitwood. The depiction, carved in high relief, shows the corpse of Christ in the center of the composition, seen in large relief, supported by Joseph of Arimathea. On the right, the deceased is being mourned by his mother, accompanied by Nicodemus and the favorite disciple John. On the left, the crossbeam and the ladder of the Descent from the Cross are depicted alongside another mourner. Fine vertical cracks. Old backing with a thin wooden panel for stabilization. Minor chips. Height 28 cm, width 26.5 cm. Provenance Austrian collection.
