Schwaben um 1500

Swabia around 1500 Praying man Limewood, carved three-quarters round, flattened on the back. Older colored version. Depiction of a man with folded hands behind bushes, in which the arm and sleeve of another figure can be seen at the cut-off lower edge. Probably a fragmentary donor portrait from a larger relief. Wear with minor losses. Small break and hole at the bottom center. Height 24.5 cm, depth 6 cm. Provenance Collection Dr. Hubert Wilm, Munich. - Their sale at the 435th Lempertz auction, Cologne, 3.12.1952, lot 80 - By succession to the present owner.
