Leather-covered top, framed by an openwork gallery, with a second pull-out top below. One side drawer. Kidney-shaped lower panel with floral marquetry and lattice panels. Stamped JME and barely legible "F.P.DUSAUTOY". Restored shrinkage cracks and losses to the legs. H 74, W 55.5, D 40 cm. Paris, third quarter 18th century. First edition of one of the first books illustrated by the artist, a collection of aphorisms on painting dedicated to Jean Paulhan. Limited edition of 150 copies; no. 149 of 140 on Arches. A very good copy.

A LACQUERED WOOD NETSUKE OF OKAME, EDO PERIOD A LACQUERED WOOD NETSUKE OF OKAME, EDO PERIOD Unsigned Japan, 18 th to early 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868) Carved from wood and painted with polychrome pigment, depicting Okame, the Goddess of Mirth, with her characteristically puffed cheeks, elongated forehead, parted hair, and a pair of hikimayu eyebrows high on her forehead. With an amusing expression and red colored lips. The back with a himotoshi bar. HEIGHT 3.9 cm Condition: Good condition with some wear to lacquer and very few tiny nicks here and there. Provenance: Italian private collection, acquired from Pierre-Eric Becker, Cannes, on 13 October 1998. Austrian private collection, acquired from the above.
