Chandelier for Elector Friedrich August II of Saxony Silver. Round, profiled foot with central hollow; the baluster shaft with cylindrical spout. Engraved ligature monogram FA and inventory number 93 on the underside with the weight "1 Mr 2 lt. 3 q. 1 d." Marks: BZ Dresden, MZ Carl David Schrödel (1741 - 73, Rosenberg no. 1675, 1806), tremolier engraving. H 15.3 cm, weight 272 g. Dresden, Carl David Schrödel, around 1760. Pages 854 to 860 of the Silberkammer inventory of 1789 list "One hundred smooth round game candlesticks, marked with FA"; including no. 93 with the weight given in the engraving. Coat of arms of Marie-Josèphe de Saxe (1731-1767), fifth child of Frederick-Augustus II, Elector of Saxony, King of Poland under the name of Augustus VII. In 1747, she married Louis Dauphin de France, son of Louis XV, of whom she was the second wife. She conceived the future kings Louis XVI, Louis XVIII and Charles X. (see OHR pl. 2526, iron no. 3).
