Bronze mortar decorated with medallions featuring Marguerite d'Estampes, traditionally attributed to Jean Warin, foliage and angel musicians. Rouen (?) 17th century. Attributed to Nicolas Buret, who became a master in Rouen in 1637, and whose known works range from 1637 to 1672. Ref. Bertrand Bergbauer in LA FRANCE DES FONDEURS pp. 106 & 107. Bertrand Bergbauer's research has also revealed that the figures of angel musicians derive from lead plates made in Nuremberg around 1540. H_9.5 cm D_14 cm
