Eighteenth-century half-leather binding with friezes and title in gold on spine gusset. Second edition of this important treatise on military use in ancient Rome. Also in the lot is The Method of the Continental Military Exercises in the Handling of Arms and Other Rules of Lucca, and Bartolomeo Bertolini's Treatise on Sabre by Trent, 1842, andDe ludis circensibus by Onofrio Panvinio, 1600, with numerous engraved plates, also folded, but with defects and some facsimile papers.
