No work was more successful than Du Bartas's Semaine, for in the space of a few years, some thirty editions were published in Paris, Rouen, Lyon and Geneva. Indeed, Guillaume de Saluste, seigneur Du Bartas, enjoyed considerable fame in his day, to the point of counterbalancing for a moment that of Ronsard. Translation by Simon Goulart senlisien, with an attractive woodcut vignette for each day of the week. Loss of vellum on the second plate (CDM, 137).
