In-4° of [4]-411 (chiffr. 421)-24 leaves, basane, ornate ribbed spine (17th century binding). First edition of the Histoire des Papes depuis Saint Pierre jusqu'à Grégoire XIII (mort en 1585), written by the humanist J.-P. Masson (1544-1611), in which he describes the ruins and inscriptions of Rome with great accuracy. Dedicated to Henri III, it is illustrated with a large full-page woodcut and numerous ornate initials. Spotting on the first few leaves, stamp on the flyleaf, handwritten bookplate dated 1720 (Pierre-François Perrey), one portrait added.
