ONE OF LYON'S FINEST ILLUSTRATED BOOKS. Its illustrations, attributed by Baudrier to Pierre Eskrich, include over 500 reproductions of medals and nearly 40 woodcuts, some of them full-page. The title page bears the coat of arms of Guillaume Du Choul, a humanist and archaeologist from Lyon and advisor to the King, who dedicated his work to Monsieur d'Urfé, the novelist's father.
