(1577). [CHATILLON (Hiérosme de)]. BREF ET UTILE DISCOURS SUR L'IMMODESTIE ET SUPERFLUITE D'HABITS. Lyon, Antoine Gryphe, 1577. In-4° of 71-[1] pages, lemon morocco, large gilt iron in the center of the boards, gilt inner lace, gilt edges (Duru, 1858). A rare book, decorated with a framed title printed in civic, italic and roman characters, embellished with large, remarkably elegant initial lettering. Following the Declaration announced on the title, King Henri II's disastrous ordinance to the manufactures of Lyon, forbidding commoners and their wives the use of silk fabrics.
