(1567). ARIOSTE. CON CINQUE NUOVI CANTI DEL MEDESIMO. Ornato di figure ORLANDO FURIOSO... Venice, Gio. Andrea Valvassori detto Guadagnino, 1567. In-4°, [16]622-[70] pages, red morocco, boards decorated with a large double frame with alternating gilt ducks and goats, and a diamond-rectangle decorated with gilt scrolls and fleurons, spine ribbed with gilt fillets and fleurons, gilt and chased edges (period binding). Fine Venetian edition, printed on two columns in italic typeface, decorated on the title with an architectural frame, a portrait of the author and 51 remarkable woodcuts set in ornamented cartouches in the text. The "Cinque Canto" section, with its own title page and continuous pagination, is dated 1566. Small ink stains on one page, handwritten bookplate redacted from title. Minor damage, otherwise beautiful and rich 16th-century Venetian binding, slightly faded (USTC, 810746).
