The title is set in a large wood-engraved frame, appearing here for the first time; it depicts 6 philosophers, Aristotle, Seneca, Pythagoras, Socrates, Plato and Cicero, engraved in mid-body. Edition procured by Gérard Roussel and Laurent Valla. The first translation of the 2 books and the concordance table is accompanied by comments and notes by J. Clichtove, the second contains notes by Lefèvre d'Etaples. 2. Title with Time stamp. Translation of Hermes Barbarus for the first 6 books on the translations of Alexander Aphrodisian and Jerome Donat. Reunion of 2 impressions by Simon de Colines. Title of first book soiled and certainly from another copy, one leaf restored without missing. Corners and spine entirely rebound. Handwritten annotations.
