Commentaries on the City of God by Dominican Thomas Valois (1287-1350) and English theologian Nicolas Trivet (1258-1328), with annotations by Jacques Passavant (1297-1357), Franciscan François de Meyronnes (1285-1327) and humanist Conrad de Leonberg (1465-1511). A very fine Lyon Gothic printing by Jacques Sacon, printer and bookseller, commissioned by the Koberger family of Nuremberg, who rightly appreciated the quality of his work. The title, featuring a vignette of Saint Augustine, is printed in red and black in a large frame. Some handwritten annotations, gallery in bottom margin on several leaves, some pages browned/browned.
