(1519). EGNAZIO (Giov. Batt.). NERVAE & TRAIANI, Atq. Adriani principum vitae ex Dione... Heliogabali principis ad meretrices elegantissima oratio. Venice, Aldus and Andrea d'Asola, August 1519. Fort in-8 of [8]-422-[2] leaves, speckled basane, very ornate ribbed spine, gilt edges (17th century binding). A most curious collection, ending with the Praise of the City of Rome by Aristides of Smyrna, followed by the History of the Eruptions of Vesuvius published by Merula, these 2 treatises appearing for the first time. A more complete edition than that of 1516, including the preface by Ergatius, this copy contains the Heliogabalus section, which some copies have omitted for reasons of modesty. Title doubled and consolidated without missing, folio 296 is blank, folio 396, also blank, is missing. Small tears at the bottom of the spine (Renouard p. 87) (Adams S, 781).
