Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo (1727 - Venice - 1804) - Hunting Dogs Tearing a Boar. Pen and black ink, gray wash, on laid paper with countermark. 18.4 x 26.3 cm. Signed twice lower left and right "Dom Tiepolo f". According to Adelheid Gealt, the composition of this newly discovered drawing is based on a composition by Frans Snyder, which Domenico probably studied in the original during his stay in Spain in 1762-1770 (Boston Museum of Fine Arts, inv. no. 17.322). The same hunting scene is depicted in a drawing from the Punchinello series (Fogg Art Museum, Cambridge, inv. no. 1965.420). - The outermost margins minimally yellowed. The margins with slight traces of handling. A crease in the lower right corner and above the signature on the right. Overall in good condition. With an expert opinion by Prof. Dr. Adelheid M.
