Caspar Netscher (Nachfolge)

Caspar Netscher (successor) (1639 Heidelberg - The Hague 1684) - Portrait of a distinguished lady against a park backdrop at dusk. Oil on canvas, relined. (c. 1690). 155.3 x 125 cm. Inscribed verso at top of stretcher "Schloßs II. weil K. Mutter Speisezimm/ rechts Wand. Mitte" and numbered "120" in white chalk. Framed. The painting was formerly auctioned as "in the manner of Nicolas de Largillière (1656 - Paris - 1746)" (see RKD ill. no. 1032058). The painter is presumably a successor to the court painter Caspar Netscher, who worked for the House of Wittelsbach.
