Fritz Burger (1867 Munich - Lindau 1927), Portrait of a lady with landscape. Fritz Burger studied at the academies in Munich and Paris from 1883 to 1897 and then lived in Basel until 1905. He exhibited at the Munich Secession and the Munich Glaspalast and took part in art exhibitions in Berlin and Dresden. In addition to still lifes and landscapes, he mainly paints portraits. The Impressionist "Portrait of a Lady with Landscape" clearly shows French influences. - Canvas tension somewhat weak. Slightly soiled surface, minimal craquelure in places, isolated minor retouches. Small closed and retouched canvas fissure lower center. Image margins rubbed and bumped, some with losses and small losses in paint layer and canvas. Otherwise in good condition. The work is listed in the estate card index compiled by the widow Wiltrud Brust under the no. "Ö 30" (numbered by hand on the reverse of the stretcher). Oil on canvas. (Circa 1911). Approx. 65 x 47.5 cm. Provenance: Estate of the artist, stamped on the reverse of the stretcher; Private property, Rhineland-Palatinate. Taxation: differential taxation (VAT: Margin Scheme).
