A Chinese qingbai-glazed carved and moulded 'peony' box and cover Southern Song Dynasty The small vessel finely potted, carved around the sides with a ribbed motif reminding of a drum, the cover moulded in shallow relief with a scrolling leafy peony, covered overall in a glassy, pale blue glaze stopping short of the rim and foot and pooling in the crevices, the base unglazed revealing the white biscuit, box,5.9cm diameter.
