Biedermeier Portrait of a Gentleman Bust portrait of an elegantly dressed young man sitting on the side of a chair with a golden earring, wearing a white shirt with a "patricide collar", a white waistcoat and a black frock coat, against a dark background, possibly a portrait of "Xaver Schwaiger † 26/7/1879" according to the annotation on the reverse of the stretcher, finely glazed portrait painting, oil on canvas, c. 1830, unsigned, craquelure, old relined and retouched, somewhat in need of restoration, framed in a later gilt stucco frame, rebate dimensions approx. 60 x 52 cm.
