Villeroy & Boch Mettlach Historicism wine jug Green stamp mark 1874-1918, embossed numbers 6. and 32., fine stoneware with celadon and cream-coloured underglaze painting, baluster-shaped jug with handle, snood and lavish relief overlay of vines with birds, three large figurative cartouches (Noah with vine, Germania, King David at the harp), surrounding banner "He who does not love wine, woman, song - remains a fool all his life. Wohl bekommt's!" and pewter-framed lid, the neck at the base of the handle with hairline cracks throughout, otherwise in good condition, h 33.5 cm.
