Bohemian ceremonial vase with pedestal in the old Viennese style probably Count Thun'sche Porzellanmanufaktur Klösterle near Karlsbad, c. 1870, underglaze blue and beige painted beehive mark, both parts in the motif brush-signed C. Herr, mounted in two parts, in the form of a necked amphora with round foot, stepped and concave neck and two volute handles with sculpted eagle heads and domed slip lid, lavishly decorated with glazed coloured ground in purple, rosé and mint green, both sides depicting a mythological or Christian scene in fine polychrome decoration. The glazed coloured ground in purple, rose and mint green, both sides depicting a mythological or Christian scene in fine polychrome overglaze painting against a gold ground with small rocailles in relief gold painting, rich floral relief gold painting and gold staffage, mint green enamel dots and gold rims, the separate base with corresponding decoration and Old Master motif on both sides, the gilding more heavily rubbed and the lid chipped several times, h 59 cm overall.
