Description
Bronze quadriptych of the twelve Great Festivals. 19th century. Each panel features four vignettes and is topped by a bulbous dome. In the first panel: the Annunciation, the Nativity of Jesus, the Nativity of the Virgin and the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple, with the Crucifixion in the bulb. Second section: the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple, Christ's Baptism, the Transfiguration and the Entry into Jerusalem, with Christ at God's right hand in the bulb. Third: the Resurrection, the Ascension of Christ, Pentecost and the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, with the Elevation of the Cross in the bulb. The fourth panel features the adoration of four miraculous icons of the Mother of God: the Virgin of Tikhvin, the Virgin of Vladimir, the Virgin of Smolensk and the Virgin of the Sign, with the Laudation of the Virgin in the bulb.
