Bears three labels on the back with reference: 1 - the title with the painter's name in Russian and Latin letters "N. Brodsky". 2 - "Ф. Я.Алексеев (1799): ref. Русское искусство 18-го века. страница 291" (F. Ya. Alexeev (1799): ref. Russian Art of the 18th century page 291). 3 - "Ф. Алексеев 1790 / Ref. Русский пейзаж стр. 457 / Алексеев монография" (F. Alexeev 1790 / Ref. The Russian Landscape, p. 457 / Alexeev monograph). 12 x 15.5 cm on view In an important early 19th-century gilt bronze frame. Frame size: 28 x 31 cm Provenance: Michel Brodsky Collection. F. Ya. Alexeev painted a large picture in 1799 entitled "View of the Peter and Paul Fortress and the Palace Quay" (oil on canvas, 71.5 x 109 cm), which is now in the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. The name on the label on the back is not accurate and refers to a 1794 painting in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. This miniature differs in some details from the Russian Museum's painting: the brig in the foreground, the position of the canoe in relation to the fortress pier, the figures...
