In 4° (205 x 150 mm);[8], 58, [2] pages.Xylographic vignette on title page, copper-engraved antiporta with portrait of Innocent XI Odescalchi, 22 copper-engraved plates outside text,of which several are folded, attributed to Agostino Martinelli, Albert Gnoli, and Michel Angelo Marinari (woodworm holes at inner margin of first fascicle, occasional browning.) Contemporary vellum binding (lacks on spine). Boards in fresh condition from this first edition. The projectdidescription of bridges starts from the risk of collapse of the bridge over the Nera River near Narni. In fact, the author takes his cue from it to elaborate on the descriptions of the courses of the Nera and the Tiber, and includes "all liPontiprincipali, which facilitate sopradiquesti the transit."

Illustrated frontispiece, engraved vignette on title page,15 intaglio vignettes and initial letters, portrait of Elisabetta Farnese dedicatariadell'opera, all engraved by Domenico Cunego from drawings by Francesco Lorenzi. Coeval bindings in bazzana with gilt friezes on spine, red boards (restored spine). Ex libris nobiliare. Specimen printed on strong paper of this first edition. This is the earliest work onriso, also appreciated for its elegant typographic layout elafinezzadelle illustrations. Also in the lot is theDiport de' viandantin in which one can read facetie, mottos, & pranks by Zappata from 1600. (2)
