Notation: Inscribed on verso top center: "Cav.re Giuseppe di Arpino". Frame: Mat. Provenance: Collection Erich Schleier, Berlin. Erich Schleier saw this drawing as a preparatory study for the altarpiece that Alessandro Turchi made around 1619-1620 for the Cappella degli Innocenti in the church of Santo Stefano in Verona. The current attribution goes back to Erich Schleier and Davide Dossi, Cologne.
